University of Cape Town
The Spring Meeting (Western Cape) will be hosted by the University of Cape Town and will be held on 25 September 2021 from 11:00 AM.
The meeting is open to all members of the Association (find out more).

Programme
11:00 Professor Llewelyn Morgan (Brasenose College, Oxford)
Pallas, son of Hercules
“Llewelyn Morgan will discuss the moment in Aeneid 10 when Hercules witnesses Pallas’ death at Turnus’ hands, and will suggest that it is a key moment in Virgil’s epic as well as a beautifully articulated scene. From there he will draw further conclusions about Hercules’ presence, subtle but critical, in the later stages of the Aeneid. Ovid, Homer and Polybius will also feature.”
12:30 Western Cape AGM
The talk and the Western Cape Branch AGM will be held online as separate meetings via Microsoft Teams (there will be separate links for each). Neither the Teams application nor a Teams account is required in order to participate; see How to join a meeting in Teams.
Current members of the Association will be sent an invitation via email with links to gain access to the meeting. Students who are not CASA members but who wish to attend the talk should RSVP by 18 September at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdj6kbuqzRTnptFMC1JYcH7Cq5fsZ_5w0BWOQyqaXFyyrQO0Q/viewform
